The peninsula itself is often called "Iceland in a Nutshell" because of its diversity of landscape. Ride through lava fields, craters and ashes of ancient eruptions in Hitardalur valley, along stretches of white sand at Löngufjörur beach, where both horses and riders enjoy "tölt", the unique gait of the Icelandic horse.

|Please Note||Difficulty: Strong intermediate riders (3 horses).
Comfortable and in control at all paces, firm seat, comfortable in the saddle for up to 7 hours per day.
Group size: maximum 18 participants.
Knee-high rubber boots are recommended for the beach ride!
Hotel Cabin in Reykjavik. Shared rooms, beds with bed linen for four nights, sleeping bags accommodation for two nights during the ride.
Vegetarian meals are available if requested in advance.

Day 1 ARRIVAL KEFLAVIK - REYKJAVIK Saturday
Individual transfer with Flybus from Keflavik Airport to your hotel in Reykjavik (included). Welcome meeting at Ishestar riding center where you meet your fellow riders. Pick up for the welcome meeting at 18:00 at included Hotel Cabin. Please read the information regarding transfers attached.
Day 2 REYKJAVIK - STORI-KALFALÆKUR - GRIMSSTADIR (B, L, D) Sunday
Departure from the hotel in the morning and transferto Stori-Kslfalækur Farm, where horses and staff are waiting for us. Please dress already in riding clothes. After an introduction to the Icelandic horse and its special gaits we start our ride into the mountains through fertile farmlands and along good riding tracks to Grimsstadir Farm with its proud history dating back to medieval times. Overnight at Stori-Kalfalækur in made up beds, showers and a hot tub on site. (25 km/16 mi)
Day 3 GRIMSSTADIR - HITARHOLMUR (B, L, D) Monday
The ride today leads through multi-coloured mountains and along low bushy hillsides. Hitardalur is a geological paradise. Vast lava fields, soft tracks through ashes and the high palagonite (tuff) mountains give you the impression of taking a ride on the moon! We leave the horses at Hitarholmur farm and drive back to Stori-Kalfalækur, where the hot tub is waiting. (25 km/15 mi)
Day 4 HITARHOLMUR - KOLVIDARNES (B, L, D) Tuesday
We continue our ride through this mystical volcanic valley. We stop at the sheep gathering place Hitardalsrett and if you take a good look you can see the troll woman Hit who was turned into stone returning late from a date. We proceed west across Hitara River and travel through an area well known as the hideout of Iceland's most famous outlaw, Grettir.
At Kolvidarnes Farm we leave the horses and drive back and spend the night at Stori Kalfalækur. (45 km/28mi)
NB: Next three days we ride on Löngufjörur beach where timings depend on the tide. Day 5 LAUGAGERDI - TRADIR - SNÆFELLSNES PENINSULA - HOF (B, L, D) Wednesday
After rejoining the horses we start our beach ride on Löngufjörur, the famous horse trail on the seashores of the Snæfellsnes peninsula. View majestic Snæfellsjökull Glacier ahead of you and feel the horses' excitement and take part in their joy on this extraordinary trail released by the tide. We spend the night at Tradir Farm. (34 km/21 mi)
Optional (available at an extra charge): Drive along the coast towards the romantic fishing villages of Arnastapi. Here we are right underneath magical Mt. Snæfellsjökull. View beautiful bird cliffs along the shore, shaped by powerful waves. Meet giant Bardur Snæfellsas and hear about historic celebrities like the far travelled Gudrídur Thorbjarnadottir and mass murderer Axlar Björn! (Price per person: approx. $37)
Day 6 HOF - TRADIR - KOLVIDARNES - STORI-KALFALÆKUR (B, L, D) Thursday
Another day's ride on the yellow coloured, sandy beach. Direction changes and we head back towards mighty Eldborgarhraun lava field. A unique experience for everyone with lava-fields and mountains on one side of the trail and the Atlantic Ocean on the other. We leave the horses at Kolvidarnes Farm and drive to Stori-Kalfalækur, where we spend the last two nights. (34 km/21 mi)
Day 7 KOLVIDARNES - STORI-KALFALÆKUR FARM (B, L, D) Friday
Last day on the beach and yet a new experience. The sand turns black as we follow the outline of Eldborgarhraun lava field. Imagine the black lava still on the move on your way back to dry land. The ride ends at Stori-Kalfalækur Farm, where we enjoy Olöf's farewell dinner. (32 km/19 mi)
Day 8 STORI-KALFALÆKUR - REYKJAVIK (B) Saturday
Transfer back to Reykjavik for an overnight stay in your hotel. Approx. arrival in Reykjavik at 11:30.
The tour operator reserves the right to alter the itinerary if necessary.
Day 9 REYKJAVIK DEPARTURE (B) Sunday
Individual transfer by Fly-bus to Keflavík Airport in time for the return flight home (included in price).
