Drop off at Keflavik airport or in Reykjavik on departure day before 09:00. If the car is delivered outside this time range, an extra day will be charged. Due to road conditions routes may be altered without prior notice.
The highland tracks of Iceland are not expected to be open until the middle of June. A final list of accommodations will be sent with your documents. Hotels are selected at the discretion of the local tour operator.

Day 1 ARRIVAL KEFLAVIK - REYKJAVIK Explore Reykjavik, the Northernmost Capital in the World.
Arrival and overnight in Reykjavik (transfer from international airport not included).

Day 2 GULLFOSS -THINGVELLIR NATIONAL PARK (B) National Park with Geological Wonders (UNESCO) - Erupting Geysers - Massive Waterfall
Drive to Thingvellir National Park, site of the ancient Icelandic parliament and a jewel of nature. Continue to the famous Geysir hot-spring area and don't miss the mighty Gullfoss waterfall.
Approximate mileage: 170 km / 106 miles.

Day 3 HELLA - SOUTH SHORE - VIK (B) Hekla Volcano - Thundering Waterfalls - Puffin Colony - Black Sand Beaches - Lava Fields
Drive along the spectacular south coast and view highlights along the way such as Seljalandsfoss and Skogafoss waterfalls, Myrdalsjökull glacier, Dyrholaey* and the black sand beaches of Vik. Continue towards Kirkjubæjarklaustur, a picturesque village known for fabulous trout fishing and is the former site of a 12th-century Catholic convent.
Approximate mileage: 300 km / 186 miles.

*Please note that Dyrholaey is closed during nesting season in spring, mid May to June 23.

Day 4 SKAFTAFELL - GLACIAL LAGOON - HÖFN (B) Europe's Largest National Park - Glacial Lagoon with Icebergs - Europe's Largest Glacier
Visit the beautiful Skaftafell National Park nestling between glaciers with its many hiking possibilities. Onwards to the shimmering icebergs of Jökulsarlon Glacial Lagoon.

Day 5 EAST FJORDS - EGILSTADIR (B) Narrow Fjords - Steep Mountains - Picturesque Coastline - Mineral Collection
Drive through the spectacular East Fjords with towering mountains and charming fishing villages to the fertile Egilsstadir area. You have the possibility to take a boat tour to Papey Island where thousands of puffins nest in the summer or visit the famous stone collection of Petra at Stödvarfjördur.

Day 6 DETTIFOSS - ASBYRGI - HUSAVIK - MYVATN (B) Europe's Most Powerful Waterfall - Glacier Carved Gorge - Whale Watching
Travel across Mödrudalsöræfi highlands to the mighty Dettifoss waterfall. Explore the impressive horse-shoe-shaped Asbyrgi canyon in Jökulsargljufur National Park before continuing to the fishing port of Husavik.

Day 7 LAKE MYVATN - AKUREYRI (B) Bizarre Lava Formations - Geothermal Activity - Rich Birdlife
Explore the highlights of Lake Myvatn and surrounding area with unique attractions such as Dimmuborgir, the pseudo craters at Skutustadir, the colorful sulfurous slopes of Namaskard and Krafla volcanic area. Make a stop to admire Godafoss waterfall "Of the Gods" before continuing to the town of Akureyri.

Day 8 AKUREYRI (B) Spend the day exploring Akureyri the capital of the North and its surrounding area. Approximate mileage: variable.

Day 9 SKAGAFJÖRDUR (B) Travel to the horse-breeding valleys of Skagafjördur fjord and then continue to the shores of Hunafoi bay, an area with a great deal of history. Approximate mileage: 193 / 120 miles.

Day 10 STYKKISHOLMUR - BORGARFJÖRDUR (B) Birthplace of Leif Eiriksson - Sea Cliffs with Birdlife - Volcanic Crater
Explore Dalir, the region of Eric the Red and birthplace of Leif Eiriksson at a living replica museum, before driving to Snæfellsnes peninsula with countless wonders such as the rocky beach of Djupalonssandur and Arnarstapi sea cliffs. Continue to the Borgarfjördur area.

Day 11 HRAUNFOSSAR - REYKHOLT - REYKJAVIK (B) Picturesque Waterfalls - Europe's Most Powerful Hot Spring - Blue Lagoon
In Borgarfjördur visit highlights such as Hraunfossar and Barnafoss waterfalls, Reykholt and the hot spring Deildartunguhver. Continue via Hvalfjördur fjord to Reykjavik. You may opt to visit the famous Blue Lagoon before heading back to Reykjavik.
