The duration of this tour is 14 days and 13 nights. You will stay 11 nights at different hotels while in the countryside and 2 nights in Reykjavík. It is possible to extend your stay in Reykjavík if you wish. The accommodation in this package is available with or without private facilities, ideal for those looking to enjoy all of Iceland for less.

This tour has it all, and covers all of Iceland's major attractions. This includes the Western Fjords, the least visited area of Iceland, offering strikingly beautiful mountains and magnificent deep fjords.

You get a chance to explore the magical Snæfellsnes Peninsula including Snæfellsnes glacier where, according to Jules Verne, the entrance to the center of the earth can be found.

Drop off at Keflavík airport or in Reykjavík on departure day before 09:00. If the car is delivered outside this time range, an extra day will be charged. Due to road conditions routes may be altered without prior notice.

The highland tracks of Iceland are not expected to be open until the middle of June.

Day 1 KEFLAVIK - REYKJAVIK Arrival and overnight in Reykjavik (transfer from international airport not included). All travel documents will be delivered to the first hotel in Reykjavik.

Day 2 THINGVELLIR NATIONAL PARK - GEYSIR HOT SPRINGS (B) Drive to Þingvellir National Park, site Of the ancient Icelandic parliament. The park itself is situated in a stunning volcanic landscape of mountains and lava flows, on the border of Iceland's largest lake. Continue to the famous Geysir hot spring area and the mighty waterfall Gullfoss.

Day 3 SKOGAFOSS - MYRDALSJOKULL - LANDMANNALAUGAR (B) Drive along the spectacular south coast, viewing highlights such as Skógafoss waterfall, Mýrdalsjökull glacier, Dyrhólaey* and the black sands of Vík. Continue across Eldhraun lava field to the village of Kirkjubæjarklaustur. Another option is to drive the beautiful mountain track Fjallabaksleið through Landmannalaugar nature reserve (4WD needed, track open from mid-June).

*Please note that Dyrholaey is closed during nesting season in spring, middle May til June 23rd.

Day 4 SKAFTAFJELL NATIONAL PARK (B) Visit the amazing Skaftafell National Park nestling between glaciers offering many hiking possibilities. Continue to the shimmering icebergs of Jökulsárlón Glacial Lagoon and the harbour town Höfn in Hornafjörður.
Optional: Boat tour on Jökulsárlón Glacial Lagoon.

Day 5 EAST FJORDS (B) Drive through the spectacular East Fjords with towering mountains and charming fishing villages to the fertile Egils¬staðir area. On the way it is possible to take a boat tour to Papey Island where thousands of puffins nest in the summer or visit the famous stone collection of Petra at Stöðvarfjörður.

Day 6 DETTIFOSS - JOKULSARGLJUFUR NATIONAL PARK (B) Travel across Möðrudalsöræfi highlands renowned for their stark beauty to Dettifoss, the mightiest waterfall in Europe. Explore the many wonders of Jökulsárgljúfur National Park such as the strange formations of Hljóðaklettar (Echo Rocks) and the impressive horseshoe-shaped Ásbyrgi canyon. Continue along Tjörnes peninsula to the village of Húsavík.

Day 7 LAKE MYVATN - AKUREYRI (B) Spend the day exploring the natural wonders of Lake Mývatn and the surrounding area. Visit highlights such as Dimmuborgir, the pseudo craters at Skútustaðir, the colourful sulfurous slopes of Námaskarð and Krafla volcano area. Drive to Akureyri, the capital of the North.

Day 8 AKUREYRI - SKAGAFJORDUR (B) Explore the fascinating town of Akureyri. Continue through the fertile valley of Skagafjörður fjord, renowned for horse breeding to Hrútafjörður area.

Day 9 WEST FJORDS (B) Drive to Hólmavík, across Steingrímsfjarðarheiði to the spectacular region of the West Fjords, the oldest part of Iceland. Drive the numerous uninhabited fjords of Ísafjarðar-djúp with a beautiful coastline alive with seals and bird life. Continue to Ísafjörður, the largest town in the area.

Day 10 ISAFJORDUR - BOLUNGARVIK (B) Spend time in Ísafjörður and surrounding area including the neighboring towns of Bolungarvík and Suðureyri.

Day 11 WEST FJORDS (B) Drive from Ísafjörður through the beautiful West Fjords. A stop at Dynjandi waterfall is recommended as well as driving to Látrabjarg cliffs. In the summer the 444m sea cliffs are occupied with millions of puffins, gannets, guillemots and razorbills. Onwards to Flókalundur area.

Day 12 SNAEFELLSNES PENINSULA (B) Sail with the ferry Baldur across Breiðafjörður bay with countless islands and rich bird life to the charming village of Stykkishólmur. Continue around the Snæfellsnes peninsula passing the small fishing villages Hellissandur and Grundarfjörður. Make a stop at the magnificent columnar basalt rock formations at Arnarstapi as well as the rocky beach of Djúpalónssandur.

Day 13 BORGARFJORDUR (B) Explore Borgarfjörður area and visit the beautiful Hraunfossar and Barnafoss waterfalls, Reykholt and the hot spring Deildartunguhver. Continue via Hvalfjörður fjord to Reykjavík.
