THINGVELLIR NATIONAL PARK - GULLFOSS - GEYSIR AREA This popular route should not be missed on your Icelandic vacation!

The highlighs of this tour are Thingvellir National Park, a remarkable historical and geological site, which is located by Lake Thingvallavatn, the largest lake in Iceland. The beautiful canyon running through the park is actually the meeting point of two of the earth's tectonic plates. Furthermore, in this area the oldest form of parliament had met since 930.

Gullfoss waterfall (the Golden Fall), where you will see thousands of tons of icy water thunder majestically down in double falls into a 32m deep canyon. Gullfoss is in the Hvita River (white river); its origin is in the glacier lake Hvitavatn (white river lake) at Langjökull glacier about 40km north of Gullfoss.

Geysir geothermal area where bubbling hot springs and geysers are abundant. Here you'll find also Strokkur, the most active geyser in the area, spouting up to 25-30 meters

Gullfoss waterfall, "Golden Falls", is one of Iceland's most beautiful and without a doubt Iceland's most popular waterfall. The magnificent Gullfos comes cascading down the white colored Hvita river, which has its origin in the glacier lake Hvitavatn (white river lake) at Langjökull glacier about 40km north of Gullfoss. On sunny days, the Gullfoss is spanned by colorful rainbows, providing an unparalleled spectacle of color and motion.where you will see thousands of tons of icy water thunder majestically down in double falls into a deep canyon.

A favorite stop along the Golden Circle is the highly active Geysir Hot Spring Area with boiling mud pits, exploding geysers and the lively Strokkur which spouts water 30 meters (100 ft) into the air every few minutes. The area became active more than 1000 years ago and comprises more than a dozen hot water blow holes. Although Geysir is less active these days, it did lend its name to hot springs all over the world.

Drop off after day tours may sometimes not be right in front of your hotel/guesthouse due to narrow streets and actual coach size used during the tour.
