Drop off at Keflavík airport or in Reykjavik on departure day before 09:00. If the car is delivered outside this time range, an extra day will be charged. Due to road conditions routes may be altered without prior notice. The highland tracks of Iceland are not expected to be open until the middle of June. Day 1 ARRIVAL KEFLAVIK - REYKJAVIK Explore Reykjavik, the Northernmost Capital in the World.
Arrival and overnight in Reykjavik (transfer from international airport not included).
Day 2 THINGVELLIR NATIONAL PARK - GEYSER HOT SPRINGS (B) National Park of Geological Wonders (UNESCO) - Erupting Geysers - Massive Waterfall
Drive to Thingvellir National Park, site of the ancient Icelandic parliament and a jewel of nature. The park itself is situated in a stunning volcanic landscape of mountains and lava flows, on the border of Iceland's largest lake. Continue to the famous Geysir hot spring area and the mighty Gullfoss waterfall.

Day 3 SKOGAFOSS - MYRDALSJÖKULL - LANDMANNALAUGAR (B) Hekla Volcano - Thundering Waterfalls - Puffin Colony - Black Sand Beaches - Lava Fields
Drive along the spectacular south coast, viewing highlights such as Skogafoss waterfall, Myrdalsjökull glacier, Dyrholaey* and the black sands of Vik. Continue across Eldhraun lava field to the village of Kirkjubæjarklaustur, known for its fabulous trout fishing.
Another option is to drive the beautiful mountain track Fjallabaksleid through Landmannalaugar nature reserve (4WD needed, track open from mid-June).

Day 4 SKAFTAFJELL - JÖKULSARLON - HÖFN (B) Europe's Largest National Park - Glacial Lagoon with Icebergs - Europe's Largest Glacier
Visit the amazing Skaftafell National Park nestling between glaciers offering many hiking possibilities. Continue to the shimmering icebergs of Jökulsarlon Glacial Lagoon and the harbour town Höfn in Hornafjördur, known as the lobster capital of northern Europe.

Day 5 EAST FJORDS - EGILSTADIR (B) Narrow Fjords - Steep Mountains - Picturesque Coastline - Mineral Collection

On the way it is possible to take a boat tour to Papey Island where thousands of puffins nest in the summer, or visit the famous stone collection of Petra at Stödvarfjördur.

Travel across Mödrudalsöræfi highlands renowned for their stark beauty to Dettifoss, the mightiest waterfall in Europe. Explore the many wonders of Jökulsargljufur National Park such as the strange formations of Hljodaklettar (Echo Rocks) and the impressive horseshoe-shaped Asbyrgi canyon. Continue along Tjörnes peninsula to the village of Husavik.

Drive to Holmavik, across Steingrimsfjardarheidi to the spectacular region of the West Fjords, the oldest part of Iceland. Drive the numerous uninhabited fjords of Isafjardar-djup with a beautiful coastline alive with seals and birds. Continue to Isafjördur, the largest town in the area.

Day 11 PINGEYRI - BILDUDALUR - LATRABJARG (B) Small Picturesque Villages - Striking Waterfall - Red Sand Beaches - Sea Cliffs with Birdlife
Drive from Isafjördur through the beautiful West Fjords. A stop at the stunning Dynjandi waterfall is recommended as well as driving to Latrabjarg cliffs. In the summer these high cliffs are teeming with millions of puffins, gannets, guillemots and razorbills. Onwards to Flokalundur area.

Day 12 FERRY BALDUR - BREIDAFJÖRDUR - BORGARNES (B) Ferry Across the Bay - Picturesque Islands with Birdlife - Quaint Fishing Villages
Sail with the ferry Baldur across Breidafjördur bay with countless islands and rich bird life to the charming village of Stykkisholmur. Continue around the Snæfellsnes peninsula passing the small fishing villages Hellissandur and Grundarfjördur. Make a stop at the magnificent columnar basalt rock formations at Arnarstapi as well as the rocky beach of Djupalonssandur.
