Those who arrive on earlier flights but depart in the late afternoon, can combine the departure transfer with a Blue Lagoon visit. Onwards to Reykjavík City for an overnight stay.
Day 2 TOWARDS THE UNKNOWN (B, D) Saturday In the morning you will meet the driver-guide. The day's itinerary will be introduced, the GPS prepared and then the group is ready to depart. The focus is on experiencing the nature, to be an explorer as well as a traveler. The expedition leader will either take you to Reykjanes peninsula, boasting moon like landscapes, dented coastline, lava fields, volcanoes and craters or to the south coast of Iceland and its black sand beaches, glaciers, waterfalls and mossy lava fields. Either route chosen, the day ends at the charming country-hotel Hekla where a 3 course dinner will be served. The rural surroundings of the hotel provide ideal conditions, on a clear night, to observe the Northern Lights, from the hot tubs just beside the hotel.
Day 3 NATURE CLASSICS (B) Sunday Briefing before starting today's expedition. Visit Gullfoss waterfall, one of the most impressive in Iceland and the highly active Geysir geothermal area. Then head towards Lake Þingvellir and the National Park. If time allows, we will enjoy some mountain adventure, crossing rivers and snow fields. Return to Reykjavik in the after-noon for an overnight stay.
Day 4 DEPARTURE (B) Monday After breakfast individual departure. Check-out and end of program. Flybus transfer to Keflavík Airport for departure from Iceland (transfer not included).
