Magic Journey to the Icehotel
5 days / 4 nights, Mushing Adventure through Swedish Lapland to the Icehotel | Our exclusive journey with husky dogsleds through Swedish Lapland gives you everything you wish for. Snow-covered trees, untouched nature, true Lapland wilderness, with some luck the Northern Lights, mesmerizing, dynamic displays of light that appear in the nighttime Arctic skies. Silently the huskies move along frozen rivers and lakes, through beautiful pine tree-forests, while the only sound to be heard is the breathing of the dogs and the noise of their feet on the snow. We stay over in nice guesthouses and the last evening we reach our long awaited destination, the beautiful sculptured ICEHOTEL in Jukkasjärvi, carved out of ice and snow from the mighty Torne River, indeed a fairy tale come true.
From the River came the Ice, and to the River it shall return; All that will remain are Memories; memories of the ICEHOTEL and the wonderful Huskies who took us there!

Day 1 ARRIVAL KIRUNA OR LULEA (D) After the flight to Kiruna or Luleå airport, you will be picked up by your hosts Johan or Sara. They will guide you along the road to Kangos, a small village 150 km north of the Arctic Circle set in the northern Torne River valley. After arrival to Kangos you will meet the huskies and get a chance to learn more about these remarkable animals. We enjoy a hot cup of coffee by the bonfire and then it's time for a short introduction into the practical side of "mushing". We prepare our sleds for the next coming morning when our adventure trip starts. The first night we spend in a beautiful guesthouse in Kangos village, where we are getting a warm sauna and a good dinner made by specialties from the north.
Day 2 KANGOS - LAINIO (B, L, D) Kangos-Lainio (Jukkasjärvi-Soppero) 42 km / 58 km After a good night sleep in the guest house we start the day with packing the sleds and harness the dogs. A short instruction again before we heed out in the wilderness. The only sounds that can be heard are the breathing of the dogs and the noise of their feet on the snow. We stop after 2-3 hours and enjoy lunch out in the wild. After a while the dogs are eager to run, and we keep on mushing for 2-3 hours. The day ends with a nice home cooked meal and before settling down to sleep in the village of Lainio in a beautiful guesthouse with a very nice sauna facility.
Day 3 LAINIO - SOPPERO (B, L, D) Lainio-Soppero (Soppero-Lainio) 65 km After one day mushing you will all feel that you get the hang of it. You can relax and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. We move along frozen rivers, deep forests and on shimmering white mires. We stop after a while to warm up our bodies with a nice soup, made over the fire. The last part of the trail is in a winterfeeding area for reindeers. The dogs are so used to the animals so they don't care. Many times we pass just a few meters from them. This day is a long day of mushing and when we are hungry its time for lunch but our goal this day is to reach a Sami family home where we spend the night and for dinner we will get specialties from the Sami menu.
Day 4 SOPPERO - JUKKASJÄRVI - ICEHOTEL (B, L, D) Soppero-Jukkasjärvi /Ice hotel (Lainio-Kangos) 58 km / 42 km After taking care of the dogs and eating breakfast we start our journey for the main goal the icehotel. We have a stop for lunch and warming up by a bonfire. The feeling from the ice hotel is getting closer. A long trip of husky mushing is over, we unpack the sleds and then its time for a warming sauna and then a superb dinner in Jukkasjärvi. But the night will be spent in the ICEHOTEL (optional) on a reindeer skin under a roof made of ice and the northern lights dancing on the sky outside.
Day 5 ICEHOTEL - DEPARTURE (B) Breakfast and transfer to the Airport in Kiruna. Additional nights in ICEHOTEL cabins available.
