Please dress already in riding clothes and bring your passport or other identification for your domestic flight. At Bjarnastadir, we start our ride with a short introduction to the Icelandic horse and its special gaits. We ride across the mighty glacial river Jökulsa a Fjöllum (on a bridge) and into the mountains to the geothermal area of Theistareykir. At one point we will practically cross over from one continental plate to the other as we ride over the Mid-Atlantic ridge! It is a fascinating area with deep earthquake fissures, multi-coloured mountains and geothermal energy. With all this volcanic activity going on here, it is easy to understand that Iceland is still under "natural construction" (30 km/19 mi)

Enjoy todayäs ride from the Theistareykir area past the mountains Gæsafjöll and Hrafnabjörg. We follow good riding tracks through the mountains, past lakes and through bushy vegetation. Enjoy the magnificent view over the Lake Mzvatn area, surrounded by mighty volcanoes, before riding down to Grimsstadir Farm. At Mzvatn we enjoy a nice hot bath in Jardböd, an outdoor lagoon with geothermal water. We then drive to Laugar where we stay for next 2 nights with swimmingpool on the premises. (38 km-24 mi)

Day 4 LAXARDALUR - HRAUNSRETT CORALL (B, L, D) Wednesday
We start the day with an exciting sightseeing tour by bus. Visit Dimmuborgir, fantastic black lava formations with rich vegetation. We saddle up again and head out of the Mzvatn area. Through a black sand desert we ride along colourful Laxárdalur valley with glittering salmon River Laxa in the middle. A true day of contrasts in the ever changing Icelandic nature. (34 km-21 mi)

Day 5 SKOGARHLID - REYKJAHEIDI - BJARNASTADIR (B, L, D) Thursday
Today we set out through Geldingadalur Valley across Hvammsheidi and Reykjaheidi into Öxarfjördur Fjord to Bjarnastadir Farm, where the hot outdoor tub is waiting. (32 km/20 mi)

Day 6 JOKULSARGLJUFUR - DETTIFOSS - BJARNASTADIR (B, L, D) Friday
This is truly a day to remember when we ride on the east side of the National Park Jökulsargljufur and visit places like Gloppa, Hallhöfdastigur overlooking Hljodaklettar and many more. We leave the horses at Hafursstadir and drive by bus approx.18 km to Europe's largest waterfall, Dettifoss. We also stop at Asbyrgi Canyon, one of the wonders of nature, a wide, horseshoe-shaped canyon with sheer cliff faces up to 100 m high.
