Day 1 REYKJAVIK Use your leisure time in Reykjavik to uncover the unique charms of the world's northernmost capital or take a look at our pre-tours to get to know Iceland before departure. The OCEAN DIAMOND docks in Old Reykjavik Harbor in the heart of the city, a five-minute stroll to the main squares, shopping and dining. Embarkation starts at 4 p.m. before the ship sets sail at 8 p.m. for the Snaefellsnes Peninsula in western Iceland. In the evening comes your first opportunity to see the Northern Lights.

Day 2 STYKKISHOLMUR (B, L, D) Around 9 a.m. the OCEAN DIAMOND reaches Stykkisholmur, jumping off point of our adventures on the picturesque Snaefellnes Peninsula. Often called "Iceland in Miniature" because it diverse landscapes, the area is home to Snaefellsjökull glacier, which sits atop a 700,000-year-old dormant volcano that was featured in the Jules Verne novel Journey to the Center of the Earth. By nightfall we set sail for Westfjords with good opportunities to observe the mystical Northern Lights.

Day 3 ISAFJÖRDUR (B, L, D) Today's destination is Isafjördur, an idyllic town in the Westfjords region. The landscape includes jaw-dropping views of dramatic fjords carved by ancient glaciers, sheer table mountains that plunge into the sea and pristine North Atlantic vegetation. Enjoy the silence and tranquility while fishing or visiting Dynjandi waterfall.

Day 4 REYKJAVIK - LAND TOUR SOUTH COAST (B, L, D) After dropping anchor back in Reykjavik, we start the land portion of our program - "Adventure South Coast" – a road trip along Iceland's southern shore to some of the island's most astounding natural wonders. Our destination today is dramatic Cape Dyrholaey and the town of Vik, where we stay for two nights in a local hotel while exploring the region. En route we visit the much-photographed Seljalandsfoss waterfall with a chance to duck behind the curtain of water for a unique perspective. Another landmark along the south coast is Skogafoss waterfall, which towers 200 feet (60 meters) and is often spanned by a rainbow. Dinner at the hotel.

Day 5 CAPE DYRHOLAEY - JÖKULSARLON - SKAFTAFELL (B, L, D) Cape Dyrholaey offers a chance to hike along a black sandy beach to sea cliffs where many seabirds nest. Just offshore are towering sea stacks that are constantly pounded by the heavy North Atlantic surf. Continuing along the south coast from Vik, we eventually reach Jökulsarlon, an expansive glacial lagoon that lies at the foot of Vatnajökull, the largest glacier in Europe. Both of these natural wonders are protected within the confines of Skaftafell National Park, one of the island's oldest and largest nature reserves. An amphibious vehicle takes us on a cruise, weaving around the iceberg-filled lagoon that has appeared in numerous Hollywood movies. Lunch on the way and dinner at the hotel.

Day 6 REYKJAVIK (B, L, D) The very active geothermal area around Geysir is our next destination. Strokkur geyser, the most famous of the local gushers, periodically shoots its hot water 75 to 90 feet (25 to 30 meters) into the air. Nearby is the Gullfoss, the impressive "golden waterfall" that plunges into a deep volcanic canyon. After lunch along the way, we drive back to Reykjavik in the late afternoon. There is plenty of time that evening to sample the cultural and gastronomic delights of the Icelandic capital.

Day 7 REYKJAVIK DEPARTURE (B) Extend your stay with one of our interesting post-programs. Our air and ground packages ensure a comfortable journey home.
