Day 1 LONGYEARBYEN - BARENTSBURG ( L, D) Morning briefing, preparation and packing of equipment prior to commencement of the tour. We start out from Longyearbyen towards the Russian settlement on Svalbard – Barentsburg, and enjoy an expedition lunch along the way. We check in at the hotel and leave some luggage behind before we head out for an afternoon trip. The guides will look at the weather and snow conditions when planning this excursion, but commonly head towards the glaciers in the inner part of Grønfjorden.
Day 2 FRIDTJOV GLACIER - VAN MIJENFJORD (B, L, D) After breakfast we pack our sleds and set off south, towards the spectacular Fridtjov Glacier and Van Mijenfjorden. We drive along the fjord to the wide valley Reindalen and then onwards to the cozy Spitsbergen Expedition Lodge in Brentskaret. The tour leader will serve lunch en route, and dinner will be prepared in the evening when we arrive at the lodge.
The Expeditionion Lodge has capacity for maximum 10 guests, and is a sheltered and comfortable base for exploring the Nordenskiöld Land area. The lodge has a perfect location in the pass between the valleys Adventdalen and Eskerdalen, and has a great view towards the Drønnbre-massif and Skolten, the highest mountain on Nordenskiöld Land (1.128 m.a.s.l.). The lodge has good facilities with a living room, kitchen, 3 bedrooms and toilet. Electricity supplies by aggregate.
Day 3 EAST COAST - LONGYEARBYEN (B, L) Weather permitting we'll finish our safari with an expedition to the remote east coast of Spitsbergen. The feeling of freedom you experience when driving across the vast glacier plateau is truly unforgettable. If we are lucky, we may see polar bears on the pack ice. We return to Longyearbyen around 5:00pm in the afternoon.

This tour is an expedition for adventurous souls. The weather can change quickly, and at times the wind and the cold can be quite severe. The snowmobiles are comfortable to drive, and the handlebar grips are heated.
Before setting out, the tour leader will give you a basic introduction to the driving techniques. We start at a moderate speed so that everybody can become accustomed to snowmobile driving. Even though all our snowmobiles can carry two persons we strongly recommend that all members of the party drive their own snowmobile. It is harder to maneuvre the snowmobile with a passenger, and due to inactivity passengers may become cold on longer trips. Total driving distance will be approximately 400km. Please note that a current driver's licence is required.
All of our snowmobiles are environmentally friendly, producing as little noise pollution as possible and have low petrol consumption.
There are a lot of exciting excursions and activities you can join from Longyearbyen before or after the trip. You can book additional nights at one of our places of accommodation in connection with your expedition.
