Spitsbergen Trekking– Spitsbergen –5 days / 4 nights, Longyearbyen - Ekmanfjorden - Svea Glacier - Lappdalen - LongyearbyenSpitsbergen Trekking is a five day nature adventure, walking amongst rising peaks and mighty glaciers, based from a camp site next to the Svea glacier in Ekmanfjorden, West Spitsbergen. This tour at 78° north is for those who enjoy trekking in the mountains and who would like to experience the Arctic landscapes without having to carry a lot of heavy equipment. The expedition leaders are our most experienced guides with necessary safety equipment.

All times are subject to change. The travel schedule will be altered should the weather conditions deem it necessary. The tempo of the expedition will be adapted to the conditions and the participan's physical strength.

How demanding is the tour?
This trip requires the participants to be physically fit, and we recommend that participants that are fairly well-trained hikers. You must be aware that the weather can change quickly, and that the hikes are over rocky and rugged terrain, where there are no paths or roads, making the adventure all the more exciting. In the camp we have a mess tent (heated if necessary) where we share our meals. Sleeping tents are shared by two participants and we also have a tent for drying wet clothes. Participants will be asked to take a shift on polar bear watch during the night.

Day 1 LONGYEARBYEN - EKMANFJORDEN Friday
09:00 Pick up at your hotel. Briefing, preparations and packing of equipment, before the tour starts.
14:00 Transport with Polarcirkel boats to the camp in Ekmanfjorden.

Day 2 - 4 CAMPING - HIKING EKMANFJORDEN (B, L, D) Saturday - Monday
Camping and hiking in the Ekmanfjorden area. The area offers the possibility of hiking on the glacier, as well as a wide range of interesting trekking routes, both long and short. The campsite is surrounded by beautiful, scenic views, located next to the fjord, between the mountains and in front of the glaciers. The basecamp will be used for the entire trekking expedition, meaning that the group returns here each day to prepare our meals and sleep. Packed lunch will be prepared each morning, and you will find a sheltered place to eat lunch while on the treks.

Day 5 RETURN TO LONGYEARBYEN (B, L) Tuesday
Pick up by Polarcirkel boats in the early afternoon, and transport back to Longyearbyen.
