The tour itinerary The tour leader will meet the group at Longyearbyen airport on arrival, and stays with the group for the entire tour. Transfer from the airport to Spitsbergen Guesthouse. After a good night‟s sleep and a healthy breakfast at Spitsbergen Guesthouse, we spend the morning getting to know both each other, and Longyearbyen. If necessary, there is also time for some final shopping in Longyearbyen before we leave the civilization.

In the afternoon we are transported to our camp in Ekmanfjorden with open Polarcirkel boats. We cross Isfjorden, before we proceed further into Nordfjorden towards Ekmanfjorden. Ekmanfjorden is located in one of the areas of Svalbard, being most lush and rich in species. This gives us a unique nature experience, as well as excellent opportunities for a various range of trekking alternatives. Ekmanfjorden is part of the Nordre Isfjorden National Park, and many places we can study cultural remnants from both mining and exploration, as well as from hunting and trappers life.

The Spitsbergen Trekking tours are lead by our most experienced tour leaders. The camp is equipped with large tents used during meals, drying clothes, etc., and smaller tents where we sleep. There are no paths or roads where we go hiking. The terrain is rocky, wild, untouched and beautiful! Every day we may choose between a short and a long walk. We can stroll along the picturesque coves and islets, or along the lush beach plains. We can climb ice, walk on the glacier or go for a hike in the Lappdalen valley, in Haugsmarka or on Bertilryggen, or we can enjoy the superb view from the mountain Mediumfjellet. Leaving the camp for our daily hikes, we only have to bring small backpacks. We don't have to worry neither about the weight, nor any sore shoulders!

We walk in small groups, together with our guide who knows the area, and who is also carrying all necessary safety equipment. The terrain is marvelous, and living in the camp intensifies the feeling of freedom and being in the Arctic.

After five days and four nights in our camp at 78° north, we're transported back to Longyearbyen with Polarcirkel boats. In the evening we'll gather for a farewell dinner and a summary of the trip in Funktionærmessen restaurant at Spitsbergen Hotel.
