Day 3 SOLVORN – KALVÅG (B,D) (260KM)

Breakfast at the hotel. Take the morning to enjoy the beautiful views from the hotel as well as the special atmosphere before passing the Urnes Stave Church. It was built in the 12th and 13th centuries and is an outstanding example of traditional Scandinavian wooden architecture. At Urnes Farm, just a stone’s throw from the Urnes Stave Church, you can take part in a red deer safari. On guided tours you can learn interesting facts about the beautiful and proud animals and see them at close range. The deer farm is situated in beautiful terrain with a lovely view over the Lustrafjord. Leave the Urnes area and drive west via Fjærland. En route you can see the Bøyabreen Glacier at quite close range from the main road in Fjærland. This is one of the most spectacular of the glacier branches. Day 4 KALVÅG – BERGEN (B,D) (312KM)

Breakfast at the hotel. Leave Kalvåg and drive south towards Bergen. We recommend
a detour to Millstone Park in Hyllestad, which is an outdoor museum in the largest
stone quarry landscape from the Viking period and Middle Ages in Northern Europe. At
Millstone Park we take you on a tour through the stone quarries. The Vikings toiled
here more than a thousand years ago, with skill, sweat, and perhaps tears when yet
another stone got a crack and broke. This was a world in which it was very important
to be able to make things with one’s own hands. After the tour, you can try stone
carving, mill grain, bake bread, make soapstone jewellery – or relax by the fire and
enjoy something to eat and drink. Outside opening hours you can explore the park on
your own (opening hours: mid June to end August from Tuesday to Sunday). After
your visit, drive back to Bergen and enjoy the evening free for leisure. We recommend
driving to the centre of Bergen to enjoy a few hours sightseeing. Visit the Fish and
Flower Market, the old port of Bryggen, and the Hanseatic quarters. It is possible to
take a funicular ride up the Mountain Fløien and enjoy a panoramic view of Bergen
and its surroundings.
