Day 1 COPENHAGEN - KANGERLUSSUAQ

As the Air Greenland plane touches down in Kangerlussuaq, your winter adventure begins! The local guide will pick you up at the airport and throw an information meeting to brief you about daily activities and other factors it is important to be aware of in the Arctic.

Exploring the local area is one of the most important things to do when you arrived at a destination. You are welcome to do this on your own or you can go on our guided Sightseeing in Kangerlussuaq.

Sightseeing in Kangerlussuaq will introduce you to the history of Kangerlussuaq, and also give you a glimpse of the surrounding countryside which you will be able to travel into in the next few days.

We recommend you make time for a Dog Sledding trip! Greenland is one of the few places in the world where this authentic mode of transport is still used widely by the local population. Sitting on the sledge, watching the surroundings moving past you, it is impossible not to feel like you are escaping from daily routines. This tour takes around 2 hours, if you want to have a longer experience, you can choose the 4 hour advanced version.

Accommodations: Hotel Kangerlussuaq

Optional Activities
Sightseeing Kangerlussuaq – 2 hours, Difficulty 1
Dog Sledding Trip – 2 hours, Difficulty 2 |

Day 2 KANGERLUSSUAQ - OPTIONAL EXCURSIONS (B)

Another day in Kangerlussuaq offering lots of adventures. Today you can choose to join the excursion to Point 660 – boasting amazing views of the Arctic winter wonderland. Our guide will pick you up from the hotel and drive you close to Point 660. You are then free to walk around to explore the snow-covered countryside! There will be plenty of photo opportunities around every corner and if you are lucky, you may see wildlife in the distance.

The excursion to Point 660 takes around 5 hours, so when you get back to the hotel, the sun will be setting on another day in the Arctic.

But the long nights in Kangerlussuaq are far from boring! The optional activity for tonight is a Hunt for the Northern Lights! With only 500 residents, Kangerlussuaq has less light pollution and more clear nights than any other settlement in Greenland! Local guide will pick you up from the hotel as usual and drive to the back country. Drinking hot drinks and listening to fascinating stories and myths about northern light, we hope to spot the enticing ‘dance’ of the northern lights appearing in the sky.

This trip usually takes 2 hours, so bring your warm jackets and grab your camera for a night out with a difference!

Day 3 KANGERLUSSUAQ - RUSSELL GLACIER (B)

Viewing gigantic glaciers and the enormous Inland ice cap are the main themes of any trip to Greenland. Today you can explore Kangerlussuaq on your own or join our add-on tours to Russell Glacier and Ice fishing on the Fjord!

The Russell Glacier is a 60-meter-tall ice wall which bears some similarities to the Wall in Game of Thrones. We will take you there in a 4WD vehicle, and you can stand at the foot of the glacier to experience the shocking height and mesmerizing view of this natural masterpiece. On the way, you may spot wildlife wandering in the distance, for example reindeer and musk oxen. The Russell Glacier tour takes approximately 4 hours.

If hiking is not your cup of tea or if you still have extra energy for more experiences, you should join our ice fishing on the fjord tour!

During the 3-hour tour, we will drive to a fishing spot outside Kangerlussuaq, bore a hole in the thick ice and fish like the locals have done for generations. You don't need any previous experience to have great fun and perhaps bring home a catch!

Accommodations: Hotel Kangerlussuaq

Optional Activities
Russell Glacier Adventure – 4 hours, Difficulty 2
Ice Fishing on the Fjord – 3 hours, Difficulty 1
